Mr. Ilyas Malik, CEO of Muscat Hills International Development, was honored to join Baroness Gohir at the House of Lords in London in support of the Families Set Free initiative — a humanitarian campaign dedicated to ending bonded labour in Pakistan’s brick kilns.
Held in January 2026, the event brought together British policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders to strengthen international support for the mission to eliminate debt bondage. The initiative focuses on liberating families who have been trapped in cycles of generational debt, many of whom include women and children living in extremely vulnerable conditions.
Through targeted funding, the campaign works to pay off exploitative debts that bind families to forced labour. Beyond liberation, Families Set Free provides immediate support including food and shelter, while establishing pathways for long-term sustainability, education, and economic independence.
Mr. Malik expressed his support for the initiative’s vision, recognizing the importance of collective action in addressing modern forms of slavery and empowering affected communities to rebuild their lives with dignity.
The event underscores the growing international collaboration between policymakers, business leaders, and humanitarian advocates in the global effort to eradicate bonded labour and promote sustainable freedom for vulnerable families.
